Celebrities at Grand Prix of Long Beach

What an AMAZING weekend! Three days of non-stop shooting. A wedding on Friday night (post still pending), and Saturday and Sunday I had a wonderful opportunity to shoot all-access at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Yep, I said ALL-ACCESS!! I jumped at this opportunity since this would be my first attempt shooting track side at any professional race. For those who know me, understand my love fast cars! After all, if I had my chance, I would love to be a Formula 1 driver! But that wont happen in this lifetime..

My day started at 4:30am, I finished charging my camera batteries and downloading images from last nights wedding. I only had 4 hours of sleep and since i’m not much of a morning person, dragging my tired, lazy butt out of bed was a challenge. I packed my gear and was on the road by 5:20am. I wanted to get an early start since I really didn’t know my way around Long Beach due to the different street closures for this race. Plus, I still had to pick up my press credentials at a separate location (Long Beach Hilton). To top things off, I had a mandatory media/press meeting at 7am! This was waay too many things for me to manage this early in the morning, without being armed with breakfast nor coffee.. Luckily everything worked out and i was able to make my mandatory meeting. Even better, they had free Starbucks at the meeting! Must. get. coffee!!!

The big event today was the Pro/Celebrity race. Luckily for me I was able to get into this event. I didn’t realize that there was a separate credential list I needed to be on, in order for me to access these festivities.. Luckily, I met some people, who know some people..:)

Here are just some of the celebrities I had a chance to talk with..

Tony Hawk

Christian Slater

Steve Millen

Jimmy Vasser

Adrien Brody

I saw this beautiful little moment between Tony Hawk and his kid.. Soo adorable!

Keanu Reeves

Megan Fox

Zachary Levi

Tony Gonzalez (Football player)

This was a fantastic event! I was even able to walk onto the track to take pictures for the Pro/Celebrity race!

The day ended around 6:30pm for me, since I stuck around to shoot the SCCA race later that day!

Jeenie & Mark | SD Photogshootout

I would like to introduce Jeenie and Mark. The final couple from beautiful SD Photogshootout. This was such a fun event! I can’t even give enough props to Yvonne LeBrun and Stephen Knuth for setting up a wonderful event. I look forward to being invited to future events!

I loved how colorful Jeenie and Mark were. It totally spiced up the shoot and I am happy they were such a cool couple!

We saw this yellow wall, so we put them up against it.. Who says you can have TOO much color.. NOT ME!!

This was a fun little idea.. We placed Jeenie and Mark in the middle of the street.. This took a couple of attempts due to the traffic, but i like the results!

Thank you for visiting!!

Jessica Claire’s workshop

I had a great opportunity to attend one of Jessica Claire’s workshops in Ladera Ranch. For those of you that do not know who she Jessica is, Jessica Claire is recognized as one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographer’s in the World by American Photo Magazine and has been shooting weddings around the world and has been in business for about 10 years.

She really lived up to that reputation and she showed why she was of the best wedding photographers around. Her workshop was very helpful and inspiring and she answered any questions that were thrown her way. She is truly a great photographer, super friendly and a wonderful person and I am excited to have met her.

The workshop was awesome!! Jessica covered alot of ground but was very open and helpful to everyone. One of the pluses for me, in this workshop is that she lives 2 minutes away from my place in Ladera Ranch. However, it still doesn’t explain why I was  one of the last ones to arrive at her studio. Go figure.. Another plus to the workshop, is meeting and talking with other wonderful photographers from all over the world. I think, out of the 20 photographers that were present in this workshop, there were only three that were from California! Others traveled from outside of California, some from Canada and even a photographer visiting from Holland.

Here are the vendors that helped make the workshop a success!

I truly loved the vivid colors, unique settings and decorations! The location was also perfect since it provided soo many different looks and opportunities to shoot.

The couple (Braedon & Lindsay) was awesome to work with.. They looked so natural in front of the camera. The chemistry was amazing and you could truly tell they were in LOVE!!

Braedon has a love for colorful socks, so he was willing to show them off!

This was my first workshop and I loved every minute of it!

Jessica, you are an amazing person! Thank you!!

Cheers!

Michael
